The Office of Children's Services (OCS) collects data on children and families referred for child protective services and on providers for out-of-home placements.

Statistical information is posted to this page by the 15th of each month in accordance with: Alaska Statutes Sec. 47.05.100, Monthly reports concerning children.

Children in Out-of-home Care

Please note that due to administrative processing, there may be a significant lag for entry of discharge data into ORCA, which may affect reporting accuracy for recent months.

  • 2,391 Children were in Out-of-home care during the month; of these children 1,666 were Alaskan Native/American Indian (70%)

  • 81 children were removed from their home; 68 of these were Alaskan Native/American Indian (84%)

  • 75 children were discharged from Out-of-Home care; 60 of these were Alaskan Native/American Indian (80%)

  • 19 Residential Psychiatric Treatment Centers

  • 1 Maternity Homes
