The Alaska Department of Family and Community Services is committed to protecting the well-being of children, elders, and vulnerable Alaskans. This page provides links for reporting concerns, including child abuse, mandatory child abuse reporting, and grievances related to our services. You will also find reporting resources for other state departments.

  • Report Child Abuse
    Report Child Abuse in Alaska to the Office of Children’s Services at the OCS reporting hotline at 800-478-4444 or by completing an OCS report form. If you suspect child sexual abuse, you must report it to BOTH the Office of Children’s Services and Law Enforcement.
  • Mandatory Child Abuse Reporter
    "Mandatory reporting" refers to the legal obligation of certain professionals and individuals to report any suspected cases of child abuse or neglect to the authorities. Visit this site for additional information on “mandatory reporting” processes and training.
  • Grievance Reporting
    If you have a complaint with an employee of the Office of Children’s Services (OCS) that you are not able to resolve informally, you have a right to access the formal complaint process. Please review this site to determine if this is the right process for you.
  • Civil Rights & Discrimination Reporting
    Any program or activity supported by Department of Justice funds is subject to compliance with federal civil rights discrimination laws. Civil rights complaints may be reported to the Assistant Commissioner of Department of Family and Community Services by filling out this complaint form. Complaints may also be filed directly with the Department of Justice Office of Civil Rights.

Alaska Long Term Care Ombudsman

Alaska’s LTC Ombudsman program ensures the rights, safety, and welfare of seniors in assisted living and nursing homes. It investigates and resolves complaints from or on behalf of these seniors, and also addresses issues related to the living conditions of seniors residing in their own homes.
