About DFCS

Alaska Department of Family and Community Services (DFCS)

DFCS carries out its mission through five divisions. Four divisions provide direct services: the Alaska Psychiatric Institute, which provides inpatient psychiatric services; Alaska Pioneer Homes, which offer long-term care and assisted living for Alaska's elders; the Division of Juvenile Justice, which promotes rehabilitation and accountability for youth; and the Office of Children's Services, which works to ensure the safety and well-being of children through family support, community engagement, and partnerships with Tribes. The fifth division, Departmental Support Services, provides administrative and operational support that enables the department's programs and services to serve Alaskans effectively.
