May 14, 2025 - A statewide hiring freeze went into effect on May 9, 2025, but it does not apply to essential positions. This includes roles in the Office of Children’s Services and positions that provide patient, resident, or food services at 24-hour facilities such as the Alaska Psychiatric Institute, Pioneer Homes, and Juvenile Justice Facilities

The Alaska Department of Family and Community Services (DFCS) remains committed to protecting the health and safety of Alaskans. Job postings exempted from the hiring freeze will remain open on Workplace Alaska through their listed closing dates. If you are passionate about serving vulnerable Alaskans, we encourage you to apply.
