McLaughlin Youth Center

About

McLaughlin Youth Center (MYC) is home to five separate units — two detention units and three specialized treatment units. MYC has a twenty-five-bed boys detention unit (BDU) and a twelve-bed girls detention unit (GDU). Youth are provided education groups focused on growth and learning.

The three treatment units are made up of the Secure Treatment Unit, Core Cognitive Restructuring Unit, and the Boys Treatment Unit (BTU). The twenty-bed Secure Treatment Unit (STX) serves male residents who have been adjudicated for, or have a history of, committing serious offenses in addition to other criminal behaviors/attitudes.

The Core Cognitive Restructuring (CCR) Unit has twenty beds, and serves males that have committed a sexual offense, or have sexual offending behavior in their history.

The Boys Treatment Unit is made up of sixteen beds for male youth who have a moderate to severe substance abuse history and criminogenic needs.
