About
The Kenai Peninsula Youth Facility (KPYF) is a 10-bed co-ed detention center that provides residents with services focusing on the restorative justice principles of community safety, offender accountability, skill development, and restoration. KPYF utilizes community partnering to provide youth with arts, music, science, and physical activities.
Visiting
KPYF is located at 405 Marathon Road, Kenai, Alaska, 99611. Visiting is available on Sundays from 1 to 2 P.M. and Wednesdays from 6:30 to 7:30 P.M. Hours are subject to change without notice. Please contact the facility to verify when planning to visit.
Visiting Guidelines
- Visitors will be limited to two approved visitors per resident.
- An authorized adult with a valid ID must accompany visitors under the age of 18.
- Visitors are not authorized to bring in any items during visiting.
- Unauthorized items received during visiting will be considered contraband and confiscated.
- At no time should any notes, letters, or mail be passed to or from visitors.

- Clergy *
- Any Unit Supervisor-approved party
* Allowed to visit at any reasonable time
Who May Not Visit
- Any individual who has been released from KPYF within the last 60 days.
- Any visitor who has been found in violation of Visiting Guidelines.
- Persons on felony probation without the permission of both the Superintendent and their probation officers.
- Persons suspected to be under the influence of drugs or alcohol.
The Superintendent, Unit Supervisor, and JPO shall have final authority in determining who may not visit.
What to Expect During Visiting
- All visitors entering the Detention Unit are subject to search by a metal detector.
- A state-issued photo ID must be presented when visiting.
- Personal items are prohibited. Purses, cell phones, and other personal items should be left in a car or secured in the lockers provided.
- Visitors and their children are expected to behave in an orderly and respectful manner. Should visiting become unruly, visiting can be canceled.
- Food and drinks must have prior approval before being brought to visiting.
Special Visits
Families who are unable to attend regularly scheduled visitation days may request special visitation through the Unit Supervisor. Special visits must be scheduled at least twenty-four hours in advance.
