Child Safety & Well-being During Covid-19

These are extraordinary times and Alaska children need ALL OF US to help keep them safe.

The pandemic of the novel coronavirus, also known as COVID-19 is a major source of stress for families and children across the world, and throughout Alaska. Families are struggling with job loss, concerns about the virus, lack of school and child care, and changes to much-needed services. Children are at high risk during times of stress and social isolation. This page provides helpful information and links to resources to help us all keep Alaska's children and youth safe and connected.

Family
In times of crisis like the current COVID-19 pandemic, financial problems, stress, and the new demands of having children at home due to school and child care closures can overwhelm families.
Children and Youth
Being sheltered-in-place, away from school and friends, can be stressful for all children and youth. While you are home, you deserve to have basic needs met, like food to eat and someone to care for young children. You also deserve to be safe.
Community Members
We all have a role to play to keep children safe. In times of crisis and economic insecurity, rates of child abuse and neglect increase. However, reports to child protective services have declined dramatically during the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic.
